Contract Negotiations: 04/25/2024
Takeaways from the 04/25/2024 meeting:
• HACCEA presented a salary table proposal that establishes increased starting pay for all FT faculty ranks. No FT faculty member shall make below those minimums.
• HACCEA presented a proposal to correct notable pay equity issues among FT faculty.
• HACCEA expressed a willingness to return to the 30-credit FT faculty teaching load expectation provided appropriate pay, as noted above, is established.
• HACCEA explained their scheduling proposal; this includes a consistent scheduling process for adjunct faculty that allows adjunct faculty more timely notification and selection of classes.
• HACC Admin requested confidential, collaborative work meetings for May 7th and May 24th.
Dear colleagues,
Today’s negotiations meeting on April 25th provided needed improvements in communication between HACCEA and HACC Admin. The main topics of discussion were pay and scheduling.
After stalling for 16 months, HACC Admin has finally expressed a desire to make real progress on this contract. That is long overdue, and HACCEA welcomes this change in tenor and intent.
Therefore, HACCEA and HACC Admin will be conducting confidential, collaborative work meetings in May with the goal of moving this process forward.
HACCEA negotiations team members will be carefully reviewing the input from our union faculty members from the most recent negotiations survey. We are grateful to all union members who completed that survey.
REQUEST FOR ALL HACCEA MEMBERS: please make sure you check your email for communication from us throughout the summer. If we make notable progress in May, our negotiations team will need to contact you.
In solidarity,
HACCEA Negotiations Team
