Contract Negotiations 01/28/2025
Takeaways from 01/28/2025 meeting:
• Negotiations meeting structure changed to a smaller work group format.
• HACC Admin did not present an official counter proposal with HACCEA’s full agreement; this was to ensure the focus on the small group work.
• The small group work focused on one of the top areas of disagreement.
• The small group format was more successful in encouraging in-depth discussion and progress.
Dear Colleagues,
Previous to the 1/28/2025 negotiations meeting, HACCEA proposed a change in the meeting format. Citing limited progress in the previous format, HACCEA proposed a smaller work group format that focused solely on one of the top areas of disagreement in the drafted contracts.
HACC Admin agreed.
This smaller group meeting format was more successful with real-time back and forth discussions, and an agreement on some key foundational needs from both parties. This type of communication is key in order to have both parties better understand the reasoning behind each party’s draft contract proposals. The goal of the smaller group meetings is to come to an understanding on one key topic of disagreement and then present that understanding as part of an official counter-proposal.
With the understanding of some key foundational needs, both HACCEA and HACC Admin agreed to continue this format for the next meeting. That meeting will address the same topic with the goal of being able to reach common ground for an official counter-proposal.
The next small group meeting is 02/06/2025.
In solidarity,
